GIMUN is taking place from 17th to 23rd of March 2012 in the Palais des Nations and is giving the opportunity to motivated MUNers to moderate or assist committees during this incredible week!
Chairpersons:
Chairpersons are in charge of the quality of content at the annual conference. Before the annual conference, they must choose the subjects to be discussed in the committees and write study guides in collaboration with their Liaison Officers. The Chairperson must help the delegates prepare themselves effectively for the conference. During the conference itself, the Chairpersons moderate debates, encourage a working atmosphere and verify the progress of resolution-writing. Chairpersons are supervised by Under-Secretary General of Committee Management. The role of Chairperson requires someone with leadership and organization skills, and equally demands sufficient knowledge in the selected subjects to guarantee quality debates.

Liaison officers:
We are looking for 6 Liaison Officers for the GIMUN 2012 annual conference. Liaison Officers play an active role in their respective committees during the annual conference. They assist the Chairpersons in their work and are in charge of communicating all logistical details to the delegates. Prior to the conference, the Liaison Officers participate in writing the study guides with the Chairpersons. They play a crucial role in the smooth running of the debates and are under supervision by the Under-Secretary General of Committee Liaison. Liaison Officers must have solid social and organization skills, as well as a genuine interest for the subjects to be tackled in their respective committee.

Delegates from different European United Nations Youth (and Student) Associations (UNY(S)As) are going to meet in Vienna in August 2011 for the purpose of establishing a UNYA Network and developing plans for projects fostering UN Youth activities.
In November 2010, representatives from different European United Nations Youth (and Student) Associations (UNY(S)As) and United Nations Association Youth Sections (UNA Youth Sections), recalling the United Nations resolution 64/134 of 1 February 2010 pro- claiming the “International Year of Youth”, met in Oslo. The purpose of the meeting was to enhance cooperation between young people engaged in the promotion of the goals and principles of the United Nations and to draft plans for projects fostering and im- proving UN youth involvement.
From 5th to 8th August 2011, UNYA and UNA Youth Section representatives from Austria, Bulgaria, Finland, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Romania, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland and Turkey are going to meet in Vienna to work on the ideas developed in Oslo, to create additional plans that will lead to the realization of projects within the upcoming twelve months and to officially establish the UNYA network. The UNYAs and UNA Youth Sections invite other associations to participate in this event and to help developing and enhancing the projects and the structure of cooperation. The Austrian UNYSA kindly offered to host this event.
